Classic metalheads rejoice! Motörhead has released their 24th album, Motörizer. Even if you’re not a fan of the band, you have to appreciate a run that’s lasted for more than 30 years, and the hits just keep coming. Lemmy Kilmister is still belting out the vocals, guitar man Phil Campbell has been riffing the songs up since 1984 and drummer Mikkey Dee has been pounding out the beats since 1992. Together, they prove that good rock bands never die, they just keep cranking out the tunes for a fan base that includes those who’ve been around since the very first album and those who’ve just discovered the classic metal band that finally earned a Grammy in 2005.
Motörizer is Motörhead at their classic best, cranking out 11 new tracks that bring you the familiar feel you’ve come to expect from a band that doesn’t believe in the word “quit.” The album starts out with the upbeat “Runaround Man,” which kicks things off with a lyrical melody backed up with the gravelly vocals that only rock legend Lemmy can pull off. The band stays in full throttle with “Teach You How to Sing the Blues” and “When the Eagle Screams.” They give you a nice anthem-like song with “Rock Out,” slow it done for a minute with “One Short Life” and then pump it back up with my personal favorite, the furious “Buried Alive.” The remaining five are all a foot-stomping, head-banging good time to the bitter end. This isn’t Nu Metal; this is Old Metal with a fitting lineup for their upcoming U.S. tour. Joined by fellow metal icons Judas Priest and Heaven & Hell and Testament on the Metal Masters tour, it’s sure to be a show you won’t want to miss.
