Warface Interview
By Jesse Lynch

Crave: First off, congratulations on your debut album. I see you've gotten a lot of good press about it. I noticed in more than one review that they talked about the current (and in some opinions poor) state of death metal and how Warface stands out as a fresh voice. What do you think about the current scene and your place in it?
WF: I think the current scene is still packed with plenty of amazing bands & fans that make it great. We are proud to be a part of this scene. We love it unconditionally regardless of any ups or downs. Our place is to further support and add to its traditions.

Crave: There's a uniqueness to playing as a three piece, especially in more extreme music; bands like Morbid Angel and Destruction come to mind. Are you a three piece by choice or practicality? Have you ever considered a second guitarist? (Not that you need one)
WF: Both. First and foremost we are a three piece by choice. We have all played in bands with 4 or 5+ members in the past and we prefer and enjoy the practicality and fewer band politics of a three piece. We have no considered another guitaristt. We've got a formula and chemistry that's powerful and works really well for us and we don't want to alter that.

Crave: Speaking of guitars, I notice that Laura got an endorsement deal with KXK Guitars. That's a cool acknowledgement of your playing ability. How did that come about?
WF: KXK Guitars just contacted us one day out of the blue offering an endorsement. I was stoked. The craftsmanship and tone of KXK Guitars are absolutely incredible! All of their instruments are made entirely by hand here in the US. They are the best metal guitars I've ever played. So, it was a tremendous honor to get the opportunity to work with KXK to create a custom line of KXK Warface V Guitars.

Crave: Are you planning on a full-fledged tour any time in the near future?
WF: Yes! A full-fledged tour is absolutely in the works. We cannot wait to get on the road. Our greatest strength definitely lies in our live performances.

Crave: Have you started writing your next opus yet or just enjoying the current release?
WF: I've recently thought about writing again (which I wasn't able to do until just recently), but plan to hold off just a little longer as we are still enjoying the current release.

Crave: Lastly, is there any possibility that you could make a trek to the Portland, OR area in the near future? We're a friendly bunch up here. Good metal crowds.
WF: Definitely yes! When you put it like that, how could we not?
